John Gallaher

Bio

John is a Director of Auckland International Campus and Chair of the Otago Polytechnic Council. 

He brings more than 40 years of experience in financial services, spanning funds and investment management, commercial and chartered accounting, management and banking. This is complemented by more than 25 years in governance across the education, health, forestry, sport and technology sectors. 

John is a Senior Advisor at Forsyth Barr and Chair of NZCEO Ltd and NZCEO Finance Ltd, the New Dunedin Hospital Southern Engagement Group, Grow Dunedin Partners and Te Kupenga CLI. He is a Director of the Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust, and a former Chair of Mercy Hospital Ltd and City Forests Ltd. 

In the non-profit and sporting sectors, he chairs the Catalytic Foundation and the William Sherriff Charitable Trust, and is a Trustee of the Dunstan Hospital Foundation. He has previously chaired Basketball New Zealand and served on the FIBA Finance Commission. 

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy and Information Systems from the University of Otago. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand, and an Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Management.
