Kanika Hans is Head of IT and Technology Solutions, leading the ICT and Technology Solutions teams. She brings more than 14 years of experience in the design, development and delivery of software solutions, and is responsible for the technology that supports students, staff, academic teams and partners.
Kanika began her career as a software developer, building solutions across the e-learning and digital banking sectors. That hands-on engineering foundation continues to shape how she leads. She joined Auckland International campus in 2018 as Tech Solutions Specialist, providing IT business analysis, project management advice and digital solutions to business challenges. She has since progressed into technology leadership, where she sets direction for IT operations, platform development and digital transformation.
Her portfolio covers IT administration and infrastructure, data engineering and reporting, enterprise platform development, learning technology, and IT governance and compliance, including obligations under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Under Kanika's leadership, the Technology Solutions team has delivered a steady programme of work on time and to scope. This includes online portals for agent onboarding and staff performance, digital workflows that streamline academic processes, enhancements to moderation and reporting tools, and solutions that strengthen student employability outcomes.
Kanika holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science Engineering. Artificial intelligence is a growing focus of her work. She holds Microsoft Azure certifications in Azure AI fundamentals. Her priority is responsible adoption: practical AI that improves the experience of students and staff while protecting their data. In 2025 she attended Microsoft Build in Seattle, United States, gaining first-hand insight into emerging developments in AI, cloud and developer tooling that inform the organisation's technology roadmap.
Known for her collaborative approach, Kanika works closely with every department to translate business needs into reliable, well-governed digital solutions. She is committed to building technology that genuinely serves people, and to growing the digital capability of the teams and learners around her.
